Timing
Pregnancy sessions are best scheduled between 33-37 weeks is best. Big enough to show a proud and defined shape but before you become uncomfortable and usually in time for those surprise early arrivals.
Newborn sessions are usually held within the first few weeks. This time is ideal for those sleepy, curly, naked tiny, baby images. After that, babies become so much more aware of their surroundings, can get baby acne, unsettled tummies and tend to want to stretch out all of which I’m happy to work with. This is still a beautiful time to record and sometimes a medical necessity to wait. It is best to book in while you are still expecting so I can anticipate your baby’s arrival.
For family sessions, the time to make this happen is now. Beyond those initial years of major milestones, it can easily be many years between photos and until you make it happen, it will keep getting pushed to the bottom of the list….so make it happen…now!
What to wear?
What you wear is entirely up to you and the look you want to create. These images are about capturing a moment in time and the connection you have with those you love. It isn’t a fashion shoot. Choose something you feel great in, something you can be real in. I adore the simplicity of subtle colours and few accessories, then it’s less about what you are wearing and more about the people. You don’t all need to be in matching outfits. Some people go to a lot of effort to co-ordinate their family’s wardrobe and for others, the kids dictate what is worn on the day.
For pregnancy sessions, I do recommend wearing loose, comfy under wear to avoid marking your skin and bring along any pants, jeans, skirts that finish nicely under your bump. Simple black or white works so well and singlet style or strapless tops allow you to easily reveal your tum whilst feeling fully dressed. Fake tan is not necessary and not recommended.
I have a selection of fabrics and wraps to cover or reveal what you wish. I have had several people request a highly creative series of images with tasteful full nudity. While this is not for everyone and certainly not expected, you are most welcome to explore this should you wish.
Pricing
Mat mounted art prints start at $70 and packages start at $590. Digital options are available and often an added inclusion with other beautiful and unique display options like keepsake boxes and ‘little boxes of love’.

Session length
Pregnancy and family sessions are usually around an hour but I work with you til everyone involved is comfortable and we have a great collection of images I am proud to present to you
Newborn sessions have no time limit, there are no time pressures. They usually end up being 1.5 – 3hrs. Babies run on their own schedule. If your baby needs a feed, then they have a feed, if they need to be settled to sleep then that’s what we do. I love this part of the process, getting to know your baby and soothe them to sleepy land. Sessions with young siblings tend to be at the shorter end as I’m mindful of their attention span

Where
A lot of my sessions are held in the studio in the city but I am more than happy to travel and work on location. For family sessions with little ones over 1 I recommend a location session so the children can explore and play naturally.
