It’s funny how when you meet certain people for the first time, it can be like you have known them for years. An initial enquiry turned into a gas-bag about life and meeting in person was fondly familiar. Meet Annie and her Mum Jo. They shared a very special ‘Find Your Fabulous’ session and let me tell you, fabulous was found on every level.
I knew this session was going to filled with laughter. Their candid spirit was refreshing and I can’t wait til we catch up again… oh I mean have their image selection meeting. Not only am I looking forward to a good chat, but I can’t wait to show them how fabulous they are. They revealed it to me and I am simply showing it back to them.
I find most people don’t love the idea of having their photo taken, nor do they usually desire to wear very little for photos either. Pregnancy sessions are quite unique though. As these women slowly reveal parts of their pregnant body, it can almost feels like it is not even their own. They become free of inhibitions and get swept up in the beauty of their body’s creation. It is not even about feeling sexy or attractive in a traditional sense – but more about the true miracle that is within. A whole new being, who will be someone one day. I feel particularly blessed that these women trust me implicitly as I guide them through this unknown territory. Their trust is something I wholeheartedly respect.
Sometimes we need a reason to stop and realise how fabulous the people in our lives really are. Big major milestones like birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, funerals are a great excuse.

Meet this wonderful extended family. I first photographed half of this gathering a year ago and I was so pleased to see them again, this time joined by cousins, Aunties, Uncles and Omar. A beautiful way to celebrate.
My time is often spent with families with little ones, meeting lots of newborns, some teenagers and couples getting married. So ‘Find Your Fabulous’ sessions are quite unique in that it is one on one time with a fellow woman. I started to offer these session because as I met more and more Mum’s, Grandmothers and women of the world, I realised body image issues are not something that you leave behind in those awkward teenage years. As we transition into women and the many roles we become to all the people in our lives; a partner, a lover, a colleague, an adult daughter and sister, a Mum and even a Grandmother – the image of ourself can become a little lost.
