Birth Announcements – Adelaide Newborn Baby Photographer

April 14, 2013

Where are your photos? So many people have computers, hard drives, usb sticks, camera cards and discs full of family photos that will never see the light of day. They become lost in the thousands. They become part a sorting task too great to ever tackle. I feel it is such an important part of the service I offer my clients – to guide people through the selection process. Dedicating time to choosing your favourites so you can share, display and gift images that are precious to you – that every time you see them, they take you right back to now. You can suddenly remember the softness of their skin, the silly grin, the warm snuggles and those funny little things they do.

–

I offer my clients some beautiful alternatives to wall prints to display their precious memories. These are often custom design and created just for them. I am always in a mad rush to package these beauties and get them off to their new homes but I have vowed to take more photos of these finished articles to share with you all.

–

A new life is so precious and everyone you know is desperate to meet your new little baby and see photos. That is why each of my newborn families receive custom designed birth announcement/thank you cards included with their session. These cards are often treasured by those lucky enough to receive them. I hear from families that they visit friend’s homes years later and find them still on display somewhere.

–

Here are 2 birth announcement cards I prepared for 2 sweet little newborn girls I met just recently.

The significance of a personalised Christmas Card – Adelaide Family Photographer

November 14, 2012

–

–

Now, in this age of facebook and email, I see that the traditional Christmas card is long being forgotten. We simply don’t have time to personalise each card with a long message. I do fear that a very special part of sharing a Christmas card is being lost. It provides a very real reason to get in touch with someone we perhaps wouldn’t do, in a way that does not require them to be in front of a computer screen!

This year, just as I have every year since my daughter was born I have created my own family Christmas cards using photos of my kids or our family to give to family and friends. Not only is it fun to do, it locks me down to taking a recent photo of my children which, just like an electrician with extension cables everywhere, can be a photographers downfall. It allows me to give everyone a little insight into our lives in the year that has past.

–

I have found the delivery of these cards, this year, particularly interesting. When someone opens a card like this, they simply can not resist but study the whole thing, laugh at the moments with us and really treasure what we have shared this with them.

For example, we dropped in to my daughter’s kindy. She has not attended since April, but they were a significant part of her life and this provided the best excuse to touch base with them again. They truly loved that they were still in our hearts. We have also given cards to people that are still fondly reflecting on last years as they still have it up on display! We have also delivered one to a new neighbour who we have only introduced ourselves to once. A great chance to let them know our names, give them a chance to touch base with us, give them a feeling of being welcomed into their new home and neighbourhood. A feeling of community that is so often lost.

Christmas cards don’t have to be a waste of time. Make them special, make them yourself or make them personalised. The most important thing is make an effort. An effort to keep in touch and share the love.

A little idea might be if to print out a little list of what has happened this year in your family. This can be easily slipped into a card. Add a recent pic of the kids and people will treasure the gift long after the Christmas cards are all pulled down.

Merry Christmas to you all
